Yash Pal
Yash Pal is a Scientist, Educator, Educationist in New Delhi, India. Pal began his career at the Tate Institute of Fundamental Research, where he later became the chairman of the University Grants Commission from 1986 to 1991. He is recognized for his research on cosmic rays. After the establishment of a Space Department in India, Pal held administrative positions such as the Secretary General of the Second United Nations Conference on Peaceful Uses of Outer Space. Eventually as UGC chairman, Pal promoted the creation of Inter-University Centres, such as Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA). Yash Pal is the recipient of highly regarded awards such as Padma Bhushan, Marconi Prize, Kalinga Prize, Lal Bahadur Shastri National Award, and Padma Vibhushan.
