Xiao-Li Meng

Xiao-Li Meng is a leading researcher in modern data science: on methodology for statistical computation, including new approaches for complex problems, problems involving missing data, and the implementation of Bayesian inference in high dimensional settings. His leadership as Graduate Dean and Department Chair has galvanized action in others toward worthy goals, guiding a set of independent and talented individuals with a mixture of separate motivations and tastes and setting them to work in common cause.  This has included his role in starting new or energizing old journals and organizing meetings on the foundations of inference in the modern era.
