Kalogera is a world leader in the nascent field of gravitational-wave astrophysics and recognized for her high-impact studies of compact objects across the electromagnetic spectrum. She has developed new statistical methods for the analysis of rare events, has made theoretical predictions confirmed by observations, spearheaded gravitational-wave data analysis for the extraction of source properties, and has led the astrophysical interpretation of gravitational-wave discoveries since the opening of this new window onto the universe. Her work spans theory, computation, and data analysis and advances cross-disciplinary methodology from statistics, high-performance computing, and machine learning.
