Research centers on theoretical and comparative linguistics, semiotics and cultural history. In his and his colleagues joint investigations dedicated to comparative study of Indo-European, Caucasian, and Semitic languages, new hypotheses are being advanced as to the ancient structure of these languages, their original localization and spreading, and new paradigms proposed in Comparative Kartvelian (South Caucasian), Indo-European Linguistics and grammatology (Theory of writing).
