Contributed to formal political theory, laboratory experiments, political economy, game theory and the empirical estimation of equilibrium models. Studied participation in voting and public goods, strategic voting, agenda setting, candidate and party strategy, particularly entry deterrence, multicandidate elections, campaign contributions, mechanism design and federalism. Work treats the effects of information, communication and strategic behavior.
