Dr. John Brademas was the former President of New York University from 1981 to 1991. Prior to his Presidency, he served as Majority Whip of the United States House of Representatives for Democrats from 1977 to 1981 at the end of 20 years as a member of the United States House of Representatives. In addition to serving on the board as chairman at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, Dr. Brademas was a board member of the New York Stock Exchange and Rockefeller Foundation. His awards include the George Polya Prize and Donald E. Knuth Prize. Dr. Brademas is the author of Washington, D.C. to Washington Square and The Politics of Education: Conflict and Consensus on Capitol Hill. Sadly, he passed away in July, 2016.
