Dr. Satish K. Tripathi has been the president of the University at Buffalo (UB) since 2011, and is also a scholar of parallel and distributed computing and networked systems.

As President, he is steering the University at Buffalo into the highest ranks of the nation's leading research universities while significantly expanding its impact regionally, nationally, and globally. Key achievements include developing a thriving urban medical campus that is positioning the university and Buffalo as a world-class hub for clinical research, medical education, and patient care; creating a distinctive research-focused undergraduate experience; enhancing UB's top-tier graduate and professional degree programs; and greatly expanding UB's global presence.

Tripathi graduated from Banaras Hindu University (BHU) in India and holds a doctorate in computer science from the University of Toronto, as well as three master’s degrees—one in computer science from the University of Toronto and two in statistics from the University of Alberta and BHU.
