Distinguished figure in metaphysics, epistemology, feminist philosophy, and critical race theory in America. What is distinctive about her work in those fields is its combined attention to the political potential of analytical tools, and the metaphysical import of social and political movements. Currently she is working on a book on ideology and social justice.  Awards include her invitation to give the American Philosophical Association's (APA) major lecture series, the Carus Lectures, in 2012 and her election as President of the APA's Eastern Division in 2013.  Her book Resisting Reality (OUP 2012) won the Joseph B. Gittler Award in 2014. She served as the Spinoza Professor at the University of Amsterdam in 2015.
