Sabyasachi Mukherjee

Sabyasachi Mukherjee is the Director-General of one of the premier art and history museums in India, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya (CSMVS) in Mumbai. Mukherjee has worked to realize his vision for the museum as a place that creates awareness and appreciation for India's rich heritage. He has made the institution more welcoming with audience outreach, public engagement, and a series of visiting exhibits.

The museum is formerly known as the Prince of Wales Museum of Western India and is now listed as a Grade I Heritage Building and was the recipient of the ‘2010 UNESCO Asia – Pacific Heritage Award’ for Cultural Heritage Conservation. The museum celebrated its centennial in 2022 and Mukherjee has been its Director General since 2007.
