My research lies at the intersection of Cyber Security, Computer Architecture and Deep Learning. I am interested in working with other experts to redesign computer architecture to build security into the foundational hardware-software architecture. Future computing architecture definitions should ideally include not only hardware and software, but also networking and sensing. Building security, privacy and fairness into architectures should not degrade their performance , usability and energy consumption, nor constrain the creativity of implementors. I am interested in improving the security of smartphones, wearable devices, cloud computing -- and all computing. I am also very interested in the use of deep learning to improve security, as well as in protecting the security of deep learning systems.
