Rohini Nilekani

Repeatedly named one of Forbes Asia's Heroes of Philanthropy, Rohini Nilekani is one of India's leading philanthropists. An author and ex- journalist, she founded Arghyam Foundation that supports work on water and sanitation throughout India. From 2004-13, she co-founded and chaired Pratham Books, a non-profit children's publisher that reached millions of children in her tenure. She also provides ideas and millions of dollars every year to several non-profit organisations working in education and research, sustainability, justice, media etc. As an active advocate for Indian philanthropy, she works with India's wealthy to give forward, to address increasingly complex societal problems.
