Robin Main Hochstrasser

Research focused on experimental chemical physics and spectroscopy of condensed phases and proteins. His work on proteins visualizes ligand dynamics and energy transfer and generates new methods of structure determination. Recent work, underpinned by earlier basic discoveries on the triplet states of molecules and excitons in ultrahigh magnetic and electric fields, ultrafast energy transfer, molecular photophysics and nonlinear spectroscopy, involves the design of two-dimensional infrared spectroscopic techniques to determine structures of peptides while they undergo fluctuations.
