My research interest is largely in the area of molecular vision science. The overall interest is in defining the dynamics of vertebrate vision in chemical and molecular terms. The laboratory focus is on understanding the biochemical and regulatory elements that underlie the fundamental problems of visual pigment processing and visual adaptation. Novel methods have been introduced to identify and probe the structure and function of previously intractable and mechanistically unusual membrane-bound enzymes essential for human vision.
