Dean of the Physical Sciences; Max Mason Distinguished Service Professor in Mathematics. Research has spanned many aspects of classical harmonic analysis. Main contributions have been to differentiation theory, multi-parameter Fourier analysis, weighted norm inequalities, and to the applications of harmonic analysis to elliptic equations. Considered one of the co-founders of modern multi-parameter Fourier analysis.
