He works on most aspects of the world economy, contemporary and historical, with special emphasis on its monetary arrangements, but also on trade and trade policy, energy developments, environmental policies, and cooperation and coordination (or lack thereof) of policies among states, the major decision takers on matters of economic policy. His focus is especially on the United States, Europe, and Japan, but increasingly on China, Mexico, and other economically developing countries.
