Research has focused on plasma lipoproteins in health and disease. His work largely defined the two steps of chylomicron and very low density lipoprotein pathways by which dietary and endogenous fats and cholesterol are carried in the blood and identified specific defects in these steps in human genetic diseases. Recent research interests include the role of triglyceride-rich lipoproteins in the developement of atherosclerotic diseases.
