Cognitive neuroscientist Richard B. Ivry is Distinguished Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of California, Berkeley and a founding member of the Helen Wills Neuroscience Institute. Ivry previously served as chair of the university's Department of Psychology and director of its Institute of Cognitive and Brain Sciences. His research interests are experimental psychology, cognitive neuroscience, and human performance.

Ivry directs the The Cognition and Action Lab which is dedicated to research projects across diverse areas of behavior and cognition, including visual, auditory, and time perception; language and speech; and motor coordination. Experiments incorporate a combination of behavioral, perceptual and cognitive tasks with both healthy participants and patient populations. Neuroimaging techniques such as functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), and non-invasive brain stimulation such as transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) are also used. Much of the work underway is in done in collaboration with neuroscientists and/or physicians located at other research and hospital facilities located in the United States and around the world.

Ivry received a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Brown University, completed a Master of Science and Ph.D. in psychology at the University of Oregon, and received a Sloan Research Fellowship in neuroscience.
