Rajiv Shah has served as President of the Rockefeller Foundation since 2017. Previously, he was appointed USAID Administrator by President Barack Obama and unanimously confirmed by the U.S. Senate. During his tenure (2010-15), he led the U.S. response to the Haiti earthquake and the West African Ebola pandemic and served on the National Security Council. Additionally, Shah has held roles at the Department of Agriculture (2009-10), the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (2001-09), co-founded private equity firm Latitude Capital (2015-17), and served as a Distinguished Fellow in Residence at Georgetown University (2015). He is a member of the Trilateral Commission, a trustee of the National Geographic Society, and a Board of Advisors member of the International Rescue Committee. Shah has been recognized by many awards and honors, including the Thomas Jefferson Foundation Medal in Citizen Leadership from the University of Virginia and Monticello (2020), the Champion for Change Innovation Award from the International Center for Research on Women (2017), and the Secretary of State’s Distinguished Service Award (2013).
