Dr. Prudence Oliver Harper is a Curator Emerita in the Department of Ancient Near Eastern Art at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. She traveled to Iran in 1960 for the archaeological excavation at Hasanlu in collaboration with Iran-Bastan Archaeological Service. She received a Ph.D. in Archaeology in 1977 at Columbia University. Her research is centered on ancient Near Eastern history and art, which has led to publications on the Sassanian Empire, Assyrian Empire, and Near Eastern monuments.
