Pradeep K. Khosla provides vision and strategy for UC San Diego, a campus with more than 39,000 students, a preeminent Health System and prestigious Scripps Institution of Oceanography. He has positioned UC San Diego to define the future of the public research university by activating the institution’s first-ever Strategic Plan and launching a $2 billion Campaign aimed at transforming the university, physically, culturally, and intellectually. Khosla has expanded college access and affordability, initiated campuswide interdisciplinary research initiatives to solve societal challenges, and strengthened community partnerships to drive regional impact.  Khosla has positioned UC San Diego to become a primarily residential campus by expanding housing availability from 15,000 to 30,000 beds.  He has led the expansion from 6 residential colleges to planned 8 colleges  

 

A renowned electrical and computer engineer, he is recognized for contributions in research and undergraduate curriculum development and reform.  He is an elected member of the National Academy of Engineering and Fellow of IEEE, ASME, AAAI, and AAAS.  He is the recipient of several international awards including the Westinghouse award for education, IEEE McDowell award, and the ASME Lifetime Achievement award.
