Research at the intersection of international trade and industrial organization. Frequently cited papers on the international automobile industry evaluate policies such as the corporate fuel economy standard and European market integration. Another group of articles examines the international pharmaceutical industry, modeling supply and demand in the industry, incorporating specific industry features such as product differentiation and imperfect competition, and measuring the impact of policy interventions. Second line of research examines the relationship between imperfect competition and the incomplete pass-through of exchange rate changes to the prices of goods. More recently, studied the role of trade reforms on wage and income inequality in developing countries, assessing how access to intermediate inputs contributes to the dynamic gains from trade and identifying the specific channels through which wages are impacted by trade. Editor in chief of the American Economic Review.
