Schuck, an emeritus professor at Yale Law School, is the author of hundreds of scholarly articles, opinion pieces in leading media, and many books -- most recently Why Government Fails So Often, and  How It Can Do Better (Princeton UP, 2014), and the forthcoming Five Hard Public Issues, and How to Think About Them (Princeton UP, 2017).  He joined the Yale faculty in 1979 after serving as the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation in the U.S. Department of Health, Education, and Welfare (1977-79), Director of the Washington Office of Consumers Union (1972-77), and consultant to the Center for Study of Responsive Law (1971-72). He is a visiting professor at UC Berkeley in the Law and Public Policy schools in the spring semesters.
