Professor Paul Michael Kennedy is the J. Richardson Dilworth Professor of History and Director of International Security Studies at Yale University. His field of interests include European great power relations, 19th & 20th centuries, military and naval history, British foreign and imperial history, contemporary global security issues, and United Nations history. Paul Kennedy is on the editorial board for The New York Times, The Atlantic, and has a monthly column on global issues for The Los Angeles Times Syndicate. He has written nineteenth books, most famously, The Rise and Fall of Great Powers (translated in 23 languages), which discussed that economic strength and military power have a direct correlation for major nations since 1500. Professor Kennedy has been honored as a Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, Caird Medal, and US Naval War College's Hattendorf Prize Laureate due to his research on naval history.
