Rose is a leader in the field of industrial organization. Her work has helped shape thinking on the way government should pursue competition policy and regulation, the unique features of airline and electric utility markets, and the determinants of CEO pay. She was influential in shaping the direction of the field as the long-time director of the Industrial Organization program at the National Bureau of Economic Research where she nurtured young researchers and organized the field's flagship conferences. She has done important policy work, including working as the Deputy Assistant Attorney General for Economic Analysis in the Antitrust Division of the U.S. Department of Justice. She has been a Vice President of the American Economic Association and is the recipient of many fellowships and awards.
