Nancy Kleckner is the Herchel Smith Professor of Molecular Biology at Harvard University. She compares and contrast dynamic chromosomal processes in E.coli and during mitosis and meiosis in eukaryotic cells including in budding yeast, filamentous fungi and mammalian cells. Her experiments involve classical approaches (genetics, biochemistry, molecular biology); high-resolution 4D imaging; micromechanical and single molecule manipulation; molecular dynamics simulations; and mathematical analysis. Honors include the Thomas Hunt Morgan Medal (2016), the GSA Medal (1990), Elected Fellow, American Association for the Advancement of Science (1992), Elected Member, National Academy of Sciences (1993), and Elected Fellow, American Academy of Microbiology (1993).
