Nader Tehrani
Nader Tehrani is an architect, Founding Principal of NADAAA, and Professor and former Dean of Irwin S. Chanin School of Architecture of The Cooper Union. Working on interdisciplinary platforms, Tehrani’s research has been focused on the transformation of the building industry, innovative material applications, and the development of new means and methods of construction, particularly with digital fabrication. With NADAAA, he leads a multi-disciplinary practice dedicated to bridging design principles, from landscape to urbanism, architecture to interiors, and industrial design to furniture.
Tehrani is the recipient of the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Award in architecture, the American Academy of Arts and Letters Architecture Award, and over 15 awards from Progressive Architecture. He was previously a professor of architecture at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he served as the Head of the Department from 2010-2014. He received a B.F.A. and a B.Arch from Rhode Island School of Design, and attended a post-graduate program at Architectural Association School of Architecture. He is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters.
