Mitchell P. Rales
Mitchell P. Rales is a President of the National Gallery of Art and Chairman of Danaher Corporation, a global science and technology manufacturing company. Rales co-founded Danaher — whose subsidiaries develop products in environmental solutions, life sciences, diagnostics, and biotechnology — with his brother and previously served as President. He is also Chairman of the American-Swedish industrial company ESAB.
Prior to becoming President of the National Gallery of Art, Rales served the institution in a number of capacities, including as a member of the Collectors Committee and the Trustee’s Council. With his wife, he is also co-founder of Glenstone, a foundation and museum of art and architecture. He was previously a board member of the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden.
Rales was raised in Maryland and is a minority owner of the Washington Commanders football team. He is a graduate of Miami University.
