I am interested in a deeper understanding of the chemistry, physics and materials properties of the crystalline solid state, including anisotropic properties, emergent and multiscale phenomena that arise from a reduction of entropy.  Research in my group aims at a thorough mechanistic understanding of reactions in crystals for the development of solvent-free chemical processes, and the design of amphidynamic crystals buitl with rigid elements and moving parts as one of the promising platforms for the development of artificial molecular machines.
