Dr. Michael Loewe was an Emeritus Fellow at Clare Hall at the University of Cambridge. More than any other Western scholar, he made Han China (206 B.C. - A.D. 220) part of our historical and intellectual consciousness. His teaching career at Cambridge, extensive publications, leadership role as editor, and participation in numerous international conferences in both the East and West testify to the scholarly importance of his seminal contributions.
