Mario Vargas Llosa
Mr. Mario Vargas Llosa is a Peruvian writer, politician, journalist, essayist, and Nobel Prize laureate, winning the 2010 Nobel Prize in Literature. He is one of Latin America's most significant novelists and essayists, gaining recognition in the 1960s with novels such as The Time of the Hero (1966), The Green House (1968) and Conversation in the Cathedral (1975). The Time of the Hero was immediately translated into many languages and received several prestigious awards. He writes across an array of literary genres, including literary criticism and journalism. His novels include comedies, murder mysteries, historical novels, and political thrillers. Several have been adapted as feature films. Since the late 1960s he has been a visiting professor at many North American and European universities.
