Mariko E. Silver
Mariko Silver is President and Chief Executive Officer of the Henry Luce Foundation. Silver was previously President of Bennington College, where she developed new relationships with arts and cultural institutions; quadrupled commitments to the endowment; and established the largest capital campaign in the school’s history. Prior to that, she worked in government, serving in the Obama Administration as Acting Assistant Secretary and Deputy Assistant Secretary for International Policy for the Department of Homeland Security; and as Policy Advisor for Economic Development, Innovation, and Education in the administration of Arizona’s governor Janet Napolitano. She has worked with governments, non-profits, and industry leaders in the United States with a particular emphasis on East Asia, India, and North America, as well as across Latin America.
Silver is a a fellow of the National Academy of Public Administration and a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. She serves on numerous boards and committees, including for Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary, New England Commission on Higher Education, Second Nature, and Sichuan University. She holds a Ph.D. in Economic Geography from the University of California, Los Angeles.
