Distinguished Research Fellow, University of Toronto Faculty of Law. Pioneering scholar both in the field of property theory, with work on the limits of markets and commodification, and contract theory, with work on the limits of standardization and entitlement shifting . Founding Director of the Stanford Center for E-Commerce and co-author of the first casebook in that field. Built a scholarly career that applies insights from early work to new topics in cyberlaw, with attention to the underlying technologies, and the philosophical basis of private law.
