M. Emanuela Scribano is professor emerita at Università Ca' Foscari Venezia. Scribano is a historian of philosophy who has written books, edited volumes, and provided commentary in a number of publications, including A Reading Guide to Descartes' Meditations on First Philosophy; L'existence de Dieu: histoire de la preuve ontologique de Descartes à Kant; Anges et bienheureux: la connaissance de l'infini de Thomas d'Aquin à Spinoza; Macchine con la mente: Fisiologia e metafisica tra Cartesio e Spinoza; Descartes in Context: Essays. Her books have been published in English, French, Italian, and Portuguese.  

Scribano’s approach to the history of philosophy brings the intent, scope, and meaning of a philosophical theory together with its author's philosophical culture. 

Prior to joining the faculty at Ca' Foscari-Venezia, Scribano was at the University of Florence, the University of Venice, and the University of Siena. She has been a visiting professor at the Ecole Normale Supérieure, Paris, the Ecole Normale Supérieure de Lyon, and the Université de Paris. She is a member of the Accademia dei Lincei since 2021.
