Applies principles and methods of evolutionary biology and molecular genetics to study biology of aging. Research focuses on insulin/IGF-like signaling pathway and dietary restriction. Outlines the conceptual, physiological, and genetic bases for trade-offs in life history evolution, such as between high nutrient intake and high reproductive rate and slow aging. Advocates importance of evolution to medicine.
