I am a musician and my main instrument is the cello. It has been my companion for more than 75 years. Most of my activity these days is teaching, at New England Conservatory. My students come from many countries and are highly gifted, interesting young people.
But performing has been a cornerstone of my career. I still play concerts in Boston and elsewhere, both solo works and chamber music. Also, First Monday at Jordan Hall is a chamber music series at NEC that I created in 1985. We are now in our 36th season and it is very popular with the Boston area audience.
