Laurel Thatcher Ulrich

300th Anniversary University Professor, American History, Harvard University. Innovative approaches to history. Material culturalist: studies history through objects. Feminist; known for quote "well-behaved women seldom make history," also the title of 2007 book. Pulitzer-prize winning author for A Midwife's Tale (1991). Narrator of a PBS documentary based on that book.  Served as the president of the American Historical Association in 2009 and of the Mormon History Association in 2014-15. Recent work includes Tangible Things: Making History Through Objects (2015) and A House Full of Females: Mormon Diaries, 1835-1870 (2017).
