Kyoung-Shin Choi
Kyoung-Shin Choi is a Professor of Chemistry in the College of Letters and Science at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Before joining UW–Madison's chemistry department, Choi was an Associate Professor of Chemistry at Purdue University, a visiting scholar at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, and a postdoctoral researcher at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Choi received her Ph.D. in Chemistry from Michigan State University and Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Seoul National University in South Korea.
Choi's multidisciplinary research on energy includes work on solar fuels production, electrochemical and solar-driven biomass conversion, and electrochemical and solar-driven desalination. The Choi group combines the disciplines of inorganic chemistry, solid state chemistry, electrochemistry, materials chemistry, and nano-scale science. The team is working at the intersection of chemistry and materials engineering on the design, synthesis, and characterization of semiconducting and metallic crystals and electrodes for use in electrochemical and photo-electrochemical devices, including solar cells.
