Distinguished Professor of Anthropology. Uses ecological models to explore the strategies of hunters and gatherers. Drawing on fieldwork in Amazonia and East Africa, tested new models for hunter-gatherer foraging and reproductive strategies. Results have been highly influential altering the view of grandmothers, longevity and human evolution.
