Research focuses on visual and olfactory transductions, which are the biophysical/biochemical processes by which light and chemical signals are detected by the nervous system. He has studied these transduction processes extensively by using electrical recordings from single isolated photoreceptor neurons from the retina and olfactory receptor neurons from the nose. Recently, he has integrated the approaches from electrophysiology, molecular biology, biochemistry and genetics in order to address these questions.
