The overall focus of research is the elucidation of fundamental principles in enzyme-catalyzed reactions. Her experimental approach is broadly based and combines kinetic, spectroscopic, stereochemical and molecular biological techniques. Present research is divided into 3 small groups, working on (i) nuclear tunneling and its implications for protein function, (ii) new enzymatic cofactors generated by post-translational modification of amino acid side chains, and (iii) the nature of dioygen activation in biological systems.
