Singer and songwriter who helped inspire the folk music revival of the 1960s. Her cover of Both Sides, Now, released on her album Wildflowers (1967), brought her international prominence. The single won the Grammy Award for Best Folk Performance. A big success of her career was her cover of Send in the Clowns from her album Judith (1975). By the 1970s she had a solid reputation as an art song singer and folksinger. She was also known for her broad range of material: her songs include the traditional songs Amazing Grace, Maid of Constant Sorrow, and Bright Morning Stars, covers of many artists and her own compositions, including Daughters of Time and Since You've Asked. She recently served as an Ambassador for UNICEF.
