John A. Brinkman is the Charles H. Swift Distinguished Service Professor of Mesopotamian History, Emeritus at the University of Chicago. He is the former director of the Oriental Institute at the University of Chicago. His research focuses on Babylonian and Assyrian political and socio-economic history, and Mesopotamian chronology, demography, and historiography.
