John Adam Thomson

Sir John Adam Thomson is a Research Affiliate at MIT. He was educated at Phillips Exeter Academy, Aberdeen University, Trinity College, Cambridge and later served in Royal Navy. He held posts in British Foreign Service, which included four years of politico-military work in Washington, Head of Policy Planning in the Foreign Office, Chief of the Assessment Staff in the Cabinet office, Minister at NATO, Under Secretary for defense and disarmament, founding chairman Nuclear Suppliers Group, ambassador to India, Permanent Representative at the United Nations.
