Following a straight path since his PhD 1972 under Lars Hörmander, he has
applied and developed microlocal analysis; the mathematical
theory of the classical/quantum correspondence in partial differential
equations and quantum mechanics.

Themes: Phase space complexifications and exponential
weights. Analytic microlocal singularities.

Results: Complex Fourier integral operators (with Melin), applied to
the Bergman kernel (with Boutet de Monvel, following Fefferman's work
- useful in complex geometry). Propagation of singularities for
boundary value problems (with Melrose) - later applied to scattering
and control. Distribution of scattering resonances and eigenvalues
(with Helffer, Zworski, Hitrik, ...).  The partial Calderón
tomography problem (with Kenig, Uhlmann).
