Current research focuses on high pressure studies of the dynamic structure of various disordered systems. The main classes of systems presently being investigated: (1) polyatomic molecular liquids, (2) biochemical systems, and (3) liquids in confined geometries. Nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy and laser Rayleigh and Raman scattering techniques represent the main experimental techniques used in his studies. As Director of the Beckman Institute for Advanced Science and Technology, he is interested in organizational aspects of major interdisciplinary efforts in an academic setting.
