Jim Himes

United States Congress

Chair Jim Himes is serving his seventh term representing Connecticut’s 4th District in the United States House of Representatives. He is the Chair of the Select Committee on Economic Disparity and Fairness in Growth; Chair of the Subcommittee on National Security, International Development and Monetary Policy of the House Financial Services Committee; and serves on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. As a member of Congress, Jim works hard to provide all American children the same opportunities he had to succeed: access to a first-rate public school, affordable and effective health care, a decent and safe home, and a supportive community.

Jim attended Harvard University, completed his undergraduate work, and earned a Rhodes Scholarship to continue his studies at Oxford University. Jim began his professional career in the private sector, ultimately becoming a Vice President at Goldman Sachs & Co. before running the New York City branch of The Enterprise Community Partners, a nonprofit dedicated to addressing the unique challenges of urban poverty and financing the construction of thousands of affordable housing units. Jim lives in Greenwich, CT, with his wife Mary.
