Jianguo (Jack) Liu

Liu is an international leader in systems integration and sustainability (e.g., integration of ecology, social sciences, technology, and policy for understanding and promoting sustainability). He and his students/collaborators have made many cutting-edge discoveries on complex human-nature interactions across the world that underpin global sustainability. His other contributions include solutions for sustainability of our planet's natural resources and ecosystem services, China's environmental challenges, and conservation of the world's iconic symbol of wildlife, the giant panda. Liu's research findings, featured in the global news media such as The New York Times, BBC, and China's Xinhua News Agency, have been used in classrooms from elementary to graduate schools, and in policy making.
