Over the past three decades, self-taught artist Jereldine Redcorn has revived the previously lost art of Caddo pottery, becoming recognized along the way for the beauty and artistry of her work. Redcorn’s interest in Caddo pottery was sparked in 1991, and her success has required years of research in libraries and museums and practice with clay, handmade tools, and techniques. She also relied on an upbringing in Caddo communities, her career as an educator, and many years of involvement in the Oklahoma Native arts world. In 2009, First Lady Michelle Obama selected one of her pieces to decorate the Oval Office.
