James Van Cleve is Professor of Philosophy at University of Southern California. Van Cleve works on epistemological and metaphysical issues in contemporary and early modern philosophy. He is the author of Problems from Reid and Problems from Kant, and co-editor of Philosophy of Right and Left: Incongruent Counterparts and the Nature of Space. He has been a Fellow of the National Humanities Center and the American Council of Learned Societies and has served on the editorial boards of the journals Philosophy and Phenomenological Research and Philosophical Studies. He earned his Ph.D. from University of Rochester and previously taught at Brown University.
