Research has centered on issues in philosophy of mind, metaphysics, and philosophy of science. In particular, he has published on the mind-body problem, reduction and reductionism, the problem of mental causation, the status of psychology and other special sciences, causation and the nature of events, and the epistemology and metaphysics of explanation. Current research focuses on the limits of physicalism and the problem of subjectivity.
